AWS 문의를 통해 계정 찾기

하도 AWS free-tier를 애용하고 있어서, 계정이 너무 많다보니 관리가 안됐다.


내 핸드폰 D-day 설정을 통해서 어느새 Free-tier 기간 만료가 1년이 되어가는 것을 보고 허겁지겁 계정을 찾으려고 노력했으나 불가능에 가까웠다.. (거의 계정 4-5개는 들어간 것 같다.)


그래서 AWS support Team에 다음과 같은 문의를 남겼다.

Hello,

I just trying to delete my ec2-instance, but i can't find that specify account.

Can i get to know my account email-address?

These are my ec2-instance information via ssh connect:
 - OS: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 5.3.0-1019-aws x86_64)
 - Private IP: 172.31.38.186
 - Public IP(Elastic IP): 13.209.158.***

이로써, 돌아온 답변은 해당 문의한 계정에 있는 ec2 resources 로그를 통해서 삭제되어 Running되고 있지 않는 것을 확인했다고 했다. 내가 영어를 잘못하는건지.. 다시 한번 재차 문의를 했다.

I mean, That ec2 resource are located other account. but i can't find that account.

How can i found that?

Can i get to know that account which contains that ec2 resouce with e-mail masking?

이렇게 보내고 하루 이틀 뒤에 늦게서야 답변을 확인했고, "계정에 관련된 내용은 AWS에서 매우 심각하게 생각하는 Top prioty 이므로 이메일 마스킹을 통해서도 알려줄 수 없다."라고 답변을 받았다.

따라서.. 대략 2달 뒤면 Free-tier 만료로 인한 계정 돈을 내야되는 상황인데, 사용하고 있지 않는 EC2 인스턴스에 대해서 돈을 내야되는 것인가.. 생각하다가 다시 한번더 재차 문의를 했다.

I understood unfortunately. but my another account will be paying cause end of free tier trial after about 2 months later.

how to prevent my another account paying for this?

These are my wondering to know:
1. if i hitting halt the ec2 instance via SSH connect, will be paying for EIP cost cause unassigned Elastic IP?
2. if i hitting halt the ec2 instnace via SSH connect, will be paying for the cost cause not terminated ec2-instnace?

최선책으로, SSH 연결해서 halt 했을때의 2가지 상황을 설명했다. 첫째로, 할당되지 않은 EIP 때문에 비용을 내야하는지. 두번째로 삭제(terminated)되지 않은 EC2 리소스에 대해 요금을 내야 하는지 여부가 궁금했다.

그래서 마지막 답변을 받았고, 역시는 역시나 였다. 일부 답변 내용으론 다음과 같다.

You are correct. You're charged by the hour for each Elastic IP address that doesn't meet the following conditions. For pricing information, see Elastic IP Addresses on the Amazon EC2 pricing page.

An Elastic IP address doesn’t incur charges as long as all the following conditions are true:

• The Elastic IP address is associated with an EC2 instance.
• The instance associated with the Elastic IP address is running.
• The instance has only one Elastic IP address attached to it.

Now, about your 2 question: "if i hitting halt the ec2 instnace via SSH connect, will be paying for the cost cause not terminated ec2-instnace?"

You are correct. Amazon EC2 instance pricing is based on the size of the instance, the Operating System and the EC2 region in which the instance is launched. Charges accumulate for each instance-hour or partial instance-hour consumed, from the time an instance is launched until it is stopped or terminated.

Depending on which instances you choose, you pay by the hour or second (minimum of 60 seconds) for each instance type. The number of users accessing the instance does not impact price. You pay only for the resources that you actually use, like instance-hours or data transfer. 

따라서, 계정을 찾지 않는 이상 돈을 내야되는 것이다. (진짜 이때는 sudo rm -rf /* 하고 halt 시키고 카드해지까지 생각하고 있었음...)

그러다가, 3시간 정도의 삽질을 통해서 까맣게 잊어버린 gmail 계정이 생각나서 그 계정으로 로그인하여 확인할 수 있었다.. 정말 서버를 사야하나.. 그렇다고 많이 쓰는 것도 아닌데 고민된다. 아무튼 이렇게 삽질이 끝났다.. 마지막으로 AWS Support Team에게 감사인사를 전한다..
